RETIREMENT PARTY

November 13th, 2016
This week was very busy. And the main reason was because of my host dad. He is 47 years old and he has been a cop for 25 years so November 10 th was his last shift as police officer. It was so sad. He went for the last time at Jered's school with his uniform to teach to my host brother' s schoolmates something about safety and fire alarm. We went to his office his last night of work and we bring some food from Drifters for all his colleagues. Now he can finally spend all his time hunting and fishing which are his really true passion! But the big thing of this week was, without any dubs, his BIG RETIREMENT PARTY that Liza organized for him. The party was on Saturday night at the Rusty Hall which is the only bar/ restaurant/ pub in Cornell. This place was very popular in the 80s among hunters and fishermen but now only very few people go there to have a beer or hang out with friends. Liza was so anxious for that party, and you could see that from her face also if she has never told anything about that. She organized the whole party all on her own: food, decoration, karaoke, location, invitation.... and the very BIG thing was that there were more than 200 people there! Now you can understand why she was so nervous.... but there was no reason to be because the party was awesome! There were so many people and everybody had fun and get drunk (because that's what they do at the party, obviously if you have less than 21 years old). I was a little bit nervous because I didn't know anybody there. I spend most of the time with Kylie and the few people I know (grandma Bath, Candance, girls from Drifters, my host cousins and Heather). Lots of people come and talk with me introducing themselves and asking if I like here. And everybody told me how much lucky I am to be in a wonderful family! And they actually was so right! All that people at the party were there to at thank you to Jerry and Liza and to show them their love! The whole family was there (except for Vee, she was downstate because of the football playoff game. This time they played against a catholic private school who recruits guys and give them scholarship or aid to attend that kind of school. The result is that they're a very god team. So we lost, but everybody was still happy because it was the first time since 1981 that Eskymos team did so good in the playoff game. So the whole city was very proud for that. Just to let you understand how much Americans love football I want to say that the game was on the radio and on the tv too! That would never happen for high school soccer in Italy!). I felt really lucky. The funniest moment was when two cops who work with Jerry went on the stage and start entertaining the audience singing some song. The pretend to have found some of the song Jerry wrote during the years and they sing it for us. Obviously they told the most embarrassing and funniest moment of his life singing on famous country music. It was so fun! My favorite was the last one where they sing "hunt, fishing, login' Liza every day" which is the first song Jerry make me listen in his car! Than Liza give a funny speech telling how they met each other in the jail and making fun of Jerry's behavior.
So after this amazing night, today we stayed all day long at the camp to relax and have some rest.
Deer season start tomorrow and we're off of school on Tuesday for deer day!
